Sporty Bunch

Hi boys

After our discussion in Lit Club I would like you to have another go at ‘The Investigator’ role. Think about what we talked about:

* Selecting a specific topic from your book to research

* Summarising the information after you have done some research

* Creating an information piece in your own words and NOT cut and paste

Your homework is due on Thursday 28th November

**Any questions don’t forgot to ask me! : )

Here is the instructions again….

THE INVESTIGATOR

Many times when we read, we encounter new and unfamiliar ideas. It might be a

location, it might be a time period, it might be someone’s job or a way of doing

something we don’t understand. This is the role for “The Investigator”, to find out

all about the background of the story, the characters and locations. Turn your

story into an information text!

You should research using other books, the internet, or interviewing someone you

think knows about the subject. Don’t forget to site your source!

You may decide to write your information on the blog, create a poster, short movie (bring in on a USB), create a mini-book….up

The Sporty Bunch

Hi Sporty Bunch

I want you to put yourself into Ron’s shoes for homework this week.

How do you think Ron feels about often doing the wrong things at the wrong time?

Why do you think this?

Use some quotes and/or examples of things that happen in the book to back up your answer. You will need to have at least 3 things to support your answer.

Your blog is due on Thursday 29th August

Do-Wrong Ron

Hi Sporty Bunch

For your homework this week I want you to analyse the main character Ron based on the first page. It reads…

My name is Ron.
Ron Holman.
Or, Do-wrong Ron,
because I have this habit:
I do the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Or the right thing at the wrong time?
Or the wrong thing at the right time?

My best friend is my bedroom.
Me and my desk.
Me and my bed.
Me and my clothes all shoved in the wrong drawers.
Me and my soccer figures,
lying on their sides
like they’ve just played a really hard game –
which reminds me of last season.
Oh dear.

1) How do you think Ron feels about doing the wrong things at the wrong time? Why do you think this?
2) Why do you think Ron’s best friend is his bedroom?
3) Why do you think he ends the page with ‘oh dear’?
You need to read to page 50 and complete the blog by next Thursday 22nd August.

Hi Sporty Bunch

This week for your blog I would like you to create a goal that you would like to work towards in Lit Club. Last semester a lot of people worked really hard towards their goal and may have now achieved these. You may like to pick a new goal or re-think how you could work towards the goal you have already set.

Your goal may be something to do with the way you read to the group, the way you answers discussion questions, related to the blog, completing homework…it’s up to you!

I would also like you to write about how you are going to reach your goal and the strategies you could use.

Your blog is due on Thursday 15th August

Sporty Bunch

Hi guys

This week for your homework I would like you to analyse the characters Enya and Tas by answering the following questions on both of them.

1) Describe the character.

2) Would you like to be them? Why/why not. (think of Enya’s personality and characteristics not just the fact that she is a girl!)

3) Do you think you would be friends with them? Why/why not. (think of their personality, interests, hobbies etc)

Don’t forget to write supporting ideas in your answers and lots of detail!  : )

You need to complete this blog and read to p.103 by next Thursday 1st August.

Hi Sporty Bunch,

For your homework this week I would like you to re-visit the ‘Connector’ role. I want to think about…

* Text to Self (how you connect with the book)

* Text to World (how the book connects with other people you know/know of)

* Text to text (how the book connects with other books/movies/tv that you know of)

In each of your responses you need to provide examples of how it connects.

Your responses are due Tuesday 18th June.

Hi Sporty Bunch

This week your homework is a little different – you will need to go this this website and create a trading card!! Your trading card needs to be a new character that you would add to the story.

It’s as easy as this…

1. You will first be asked to enter your name

2. Then you will need to enter a topic, this will be the name of your character. Click on ‘fictional character’

3. Then you will have access to your trading card. You need to fill out the information on the card.

4. Click ‘finish’

5. To share your card with the class I suggest that EVERYONE saves it in case some technological problems arise and you lose it:(

6. You can either bring it to class on a USB for me to print or email it to the class email address at

4ltbpps@gmail.com

You need to complete your trading card by our next session on Tuesday 11th June.

Have fun!!
