Cows that go Moo

Hi boys

After our discussion today I would like you to have another go at ‘The Investigator’ role. Think about what we talked about:

* Selecting a specific topic from your book to research

* Summarising the information after you have done some research

* Creating an information piece in your own words and NOT cut and paste

**Any questions don’t forgot to ask me! : )

Here is the instructions again….

THE INVESTIGATOR

Many times when we read, we encounter new and unfamiliar ideas. It might be a

location, it might be a time period, it might be someone’s job or a way of doing

something we don’t understand. This is the role for “The Investigator”, to find out

all about the background of the story, the characters and locations. Turn your

story into an information text!

You should research using other books, the internet, or interviewing someone you

think knows about the subject. Don’t forget to site your source!

You may decide to write your information on the blog, create a poster, short movie (bring in on a USB), create a mini-book….up

The Cows that go Moo

Hi boys

For homework this week I want you to use two of the connector roles.

1) Text to text – I want you to think of another book/movie/tv show that you feel connects with your book. You need to explain how it connects and provide detailed examples.

2) Text to world – You need to connect the book to someone you know, something you have seen/heard of etc. You need to explain how it connects and provide detailed examples.

Your blog is due on Wednesday 4th September

The Cows that go Moo

Hi boys

For your homework this week you are to write a metaphor poem (as we did in Lit Club this week) about the characters in the book. You will pick a theme for your poem (eg. medicine cabinet, football team, school etc). You will then need to think about what you know about the characters, their personality, interests, events etc.

Post your poem on the blog.

Your homework is due on Friday 30th August

The cows that go moo

I want you to use the ‘Text to Self’ connector role this week. Thinking about the friendship that Captain Mack and Danny have I want you to think of someone who you have a similar friendship with.

Why is this friendship special to you?

How does it compare to the friendship that Danny and Captain Mack have (think of examples from the book and your friendship to compare).

Your blog is due on Wednesday 21st August

The Cows that go Moo

Hi The Cows that go Moo

This week for your blog I would like you to create a goal that you would like to work towards in Lit Club. Last semester a lot of people worked really hard towards their goal and may have now achieved these. You may like to pick a new goal or re-think how you could work towards the goal you have already set.

Your goal may be something to do with the way you read to the group, the way you answers discussion questions, related to the blog, completing homework…it’s up to you!

I would also like you to write about how you are going to reach your goal and the strategies you could use.

Your blog is due on Wednesday 14th August….we are changing days : )
