You need to watch the BTN video on Advertising in Schools.

After watching the video you are to answer the following questions in your semester book.

  1. Why do advertising companies want to advertise their products to children?
  2. Why are some people opposed to the Coles promotion in schools?
  3. What other advertising happens in schools?
  4. Give an example of a product/s that is advertised in your school? How does your school benefit from the ads?
  5. What are the advantages of allowing ads in schools?
  6. Do you think ads should be allowed in schools? Explain your answer.

Today we read the book ‘The English Roses – too good to be true’.

For you homework I want you to think about the message coming through in the book about friendships.

1) What is the moral of the story (the message the author is trying to get across)? Provide some examples from the book that show this message.

2) Why did they use the title ‘The Big Green Monster’? Who was the author talking about?

3) What did you think about the ending of the book? Was it what you expected to happen? Why/why not?

Hi girls

For homework this week you need to read to p.188 (chapter 29) and complete the following questions..

Write 3-5 sentences for each answer, being sure to fully explain all of your ideas.

1.  What does the Conte want the children to steal? Describe it in detail.

2.  Bo, once again, tells Victor something he shouldn’t have.  What is it, and how could it affect all the children?

3.  How does Scipio plan to find a home for the children if they have to leave the Stella?  Do you think this is a workable plan? Why/why not?

4.  At Scipio’s house, “Prosper looked at Scipio contemptuously, but inside he felt numb with sadness and disappointment.”  Describe Prosper’s feelings at that time.

You will pick a theme for your poem (eg. medicine cabinet, football team, school etc). You will then need to think about what you know about the characters, their personality, interests, events etc.

This week you will be watching a BTN episode on ‘Overseas Aid’. When you have finished watching the video, complete the discussion questions in your yellow Lit Club book.

3. What is aid?

4. Why does the Australian Government give funding to people in other countries? List your reasons.
